COMPANY: We have 3 levels of company dancers: petite, junior, and senior companies. These are competitive dancers, girls and boys who have decided to commit and dedicate their energy and spare time to dance.
Why do they do it? Not only do they love to dance, it fosters teamwork, self-esteem, discipline & responsibility, as well as, enhances work ethic and accountability. They get to explore many genres which include: ballet, tap, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop and jazz. This is great way for the students to gain exposure and appreciate all styles that dance has to offer. They get to experience dance conventions and learn from master teachers from all around the world to improve on techniques, expression, choreography, and the list goes on…
COMPETITIVE DANCERS: Dance competitions are a great way of showing off their dedication and teamwork throughout the year and have their competitive edge shine through. These dancers are growing up together so they have developed friendships beyond the studio. SGDC company dancers are determined, focused, and hard workers who are able to juggle school, dance, and other activities beautifully. They are consistently on honor rolls and very active in the community. Being in the company will expose them to time management and responsibility, while learning confidence, life skills, and appreciation for this beautiful art that will last a lifetime.
PERFORMING GROUPS: The SGDC offers a great opportunity for students who love to dance but cannot commit to numerous hours as they are involved in many other activities. We have three groups: Hot Tots (ages 4.5 – 7), Minis (7 – 11), and Teens (12 and up), which are for students who like to perform in more than just our annual show. They get to compete and perform in other venues throughout the season, as well as attend workshops with master teachers and dance conventions. This allows both groups of students to get more experience with their love for dance but does not require the commitment that the company dancers have on a weekly basis.
